About this tour

We will take you to discover the most powerful empire in Mesoamerica from the 400s AD. We will tell you everything about this civilization: when it began, who inhabited this place, what inspired them to build the pyramids, how long it took, who their gods were, their craft workshops, their food, their tools, how they became so powerful, the discoveries found beneath the pyramids, the theories of why this empire collapsed and the discoveries of the Aztecs.

We will visit the Pyramid of the Sun, the Pyramid of the Moon, the Pyramid of the Feathered Serpent, the Palace of Quetzalpapálotl and the site museum designed by Pedro Ramírez Vázquez — the same architect who designed the Museum of Anthropology — to learn more about the Teotihuacan culture. Itinerary

Pirámide del Sol
· 20 minutes

We will visit the Great Pyramid of the Sun and our accredited guide will tell you all about it: who it is dedicated to, how long it took to build, what is inside the pyramid, what it is inspired by and what the archaeologists found.
Pirámide de la Luna
· 20 minutes

We will visit the Pyramid of the Moon, and our guide will explain the differences between it and the Pyramid of the Sun, who it is dedicated to, how high it is, what the archaeologists found, how long it took to build and what inspired the Teotihuacans.
Templo de Quetzalcóatl
· 40 minutes

We will visit the third pyramid, called the Pyramid of the Feathered Serpent. Our accredited guide will tell you the amazing story of the tunnel found beneath it, interesting facts about the place, who it is dedicated to, and explain the details that decorate it.
Calzada de los Muertos
· 30 minutes

We will walk along the Avenue of the Dead while our accredited guide tells you all about the city of Teotihuacan: when it was founded, how many inhabitants it had, the importance of the San Juan river, the old volcano now called Cerro Gordo, the city's neighbourhoods and how the City of the Gods was built.
Museo de Sitio Teotihuacan
· 30 minutes

We will visit the Teotihuacan site museum designed by Pedro Ramírez Vázquez, the same architect who designed the Museum of Anthropology and History. Here we will learn about the history of Teotihuacan, who the first inhabitants were, their workshops, the importance of obsidian, the pigments and tools they used, and their system of burials, sacrifices and gods.
Palacio de Quetzalpapálotl
· 15 minutes

Finally we will visit the Palace of Quetzalpapálotl. Our accredited guide will show you images of what Teotihuacan looked like in ancient times, who may have inspired the worship of Quetzalcoatl the feathered serpent, and we will visit the courtyard of the pillars.
Return to Mexico City
