Many people know or have heard of Xochimilco for its trajineras and festive atmosphere, complete with tequila and mariachi music. However, there is another side to this beautiful place. Welcome to our ancestral home, our beloved Xochimilco: a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Explore the canals by kayak, just as the ancient cultures did in their canoes. Travel back in time and discover what Mexico City was like before the arrival of the Spanish. This landscape is one of the last remnants of the indigenous world, when the city was still a vast lake and there was a sophisticated system of artificial islands dedicated to agriculture.

As you paddle, enjoy a unique spectacle of nature: the sun rising between volcanoes and trees, the sunrise and the changing colors of the sky; sightings of native and migratory birds; the fog rising over the water; the sounds of the earth; the diversity of plants and animals; and our beloved farmers tending the chinampas as they have done for generations.
